Maidstone Green Party campaigner, Rachel Rodwell, has become increasingly concerned about antisocial behaviour on the river with people dangerously using ribs and dinghies, threatening other river users and firing catapults at wildlife. Rachel has been working with local services to improve the safety.
Green Rachel Rodwell: “Over the past weeks, I have been involved with the river community in sending reports and evidence to the Police and the Environment Agency. I have also been liaising with the Community Protection Team, regarding catapult crime and dangerous use of dinghies and ribs.
“The Marine Police came to Maidstone as a result of our collective pressure and there is currently an increased presence of police, EA and community protection officers at key times, like weekends and this bank holiday weekend.”
