A Green Party councillor has called on Maidstone Borough Council to improve toilet signage in the town centre, and to improve the facilities in parks following a survey which showed that none of the main town centre signs tell people where they can have a pee and which revealed the dire state of toilet blocks in parks.
Green Cllr Stuart Jeffery, “The council is keen to encourage visitors to the town but unless you know Maidstone well you could be caught short. The lack of signage for public toilets is quite appalling.
“The Council has signposted important destinations in the town centre on its large signs but they do not mention where the loos are. People visiting simply won’t know where to go.
“The toilets in some parks are in an appalling state too yet there seems to be little in the way of a plan to make these useable.”
“Some people need the toilet more frequently than others and we are putting those people at a particular disadvantage so I am asking the Council to change that.”
